A freezer room holds stock well below freezing, usually between minus 18 and minus 22 degrees, for weeks at a time. At those temperatures the enemy is ice: on the evaporator coil, around the door frame and under the slab. Standby specs the defrost cycle, door heaters and floor insulation so the room stays cold and the ice never gets a foothold in the first place. A stable freezer room is a food safety measure as well as a maintenance one, since frozen stock only stays safe to serve while the temperature holds.

What temperature should a commercial freezer room run at?
Most commercial freezer rooms hold between minus 18 and minus 22 degrees, cold enough to keep meat, seafood and frozen goods safe for weeks. Standby sets the target to the stock you store and its turnover, then confirms the room pulls down and holds it before handover.
Why is ice building up in my freezer room?
Ice on the coil, door frame or floor usually points to a defrost cycle that is not clearing, worn door heaters or a failing seal letting moist air in. We trace it to the actual fault and fix it, because ignored ice build-up eventually chokes the evaporator and warms the whole room.
What is the difference between installing a cool room and a freezer room?
A freezer room needs heavier insulation, a managed defrost cycle, door heaters to stop the frame icing shut and floor heating to stop the slab freezing and heaving. A cool room runs above freezing and needs none of that. We spec each to its job rather than fitting one to do both badly.
